Frequently Asked Questions
1. What do I do if OSHA shows up at my place of business ?
Do not panic. They have a specific protocol that must be followed.
Don’t be bullied but always be courteous and professional.
Do not argue with OSHA, YOU WILL LOSE. Keep the Compliance Officer ( C.O. ) in an office or waiting room and do not let the C.O. wander.
Do not volunteer any information in what might seem to be a general conversation. Once the C.O. has identified himself or herself, anything becomes evidence against you.
Call Alliance Services Group and ask the C.O. to wait for us.
2. Does my company have to train employees ?
YES. The OSHA Standards require that all employees receive health and safety training as well as job specific and specialty training.
3. Does my company need a full time safety person ?
Not necessarily. That requirement will depend on a number of factors. To be certain about how your company must comply, contact A.S.G. and arrange for a needs assessment.
4. Does my company need to conduct drug testing ?
Not necessarily. Drug testing of employees can be a touchy area. However, drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles ( CMV’s ) are required by the U.S.D.O.T. to submit to
pre-employment ( if not a part of a previous employers random program), and random testing. This testing may also apply to post accident situations. Many companies have established policies for “ Drug Free Workplace “. It is becoming commonplace to require pre-employment and random drug testing of ALL employees.
